ABOUT THE BRIDE AND GROOM

The Bride & Groom: We met at the Republic nearly 6 years ago and started dating two months later! We have a dog Tig and are all about spending time with family over a meal and some drinks.

Newfoundland Wedding Vendor Reviews

Dress:

I found my dress at the Model Shop. I wanted something simple - I'm not a blingy person. I thought my "boho" dress really complimented the backyard wedding feel.

Suit:

Grooms suit was custom made at Moore's. We didn't want the guys in tuxes, just suits - which are hard to come by. We rented grey suits from Bejamin's on Water Street. Both Moore's and Benjamin's did a great job.

Decor:

Lacey Rose Design (Lacey Boland). I knew when I saw photos of Lacey's other weddings that I wanted to have her decorate for ours. She kept it simple and it turned out beautiful. Stunning!

Photography:

JP Mullowney Photography. We are thrilled with our wedding photos - I can't stop looking through them and still haven't picked a favorite to print! Such beautiful moments were captured by Jim. He is very organized, and was able to reassure us a few times throughout the day when time was getting tight. Beautiful job.

Flowers:

Created by Lacey Boland as well. I gave her the colours I wanted in my bouquets and said "surprise me". Also stunning!

Hair and Makeup. Hair:

Tara Tobin Beauty. She has been my "hair girl" since high school and always outdoes herself. Makeup: Sarah George - recommended by Tara Tobin. Both did a wonderful job on wedding day. Just how I envisioned.

DJ:

Todd Skinner. Very approachable and easy going. The dance floor was filled all night. Would highly recommend!

Brides favourite moment

The entire ceremony. Kathy Dicks-Peyton was our commissioner and she did a wonderful job. The ceremony was the most special part of the day for me. The weather, location and love from family friends made it perfect.

Grooms favourite moment

Watching Jess walk down the aisle in my grandparents backyard was very meaningful to me.

Advice to couples currently planning their wedding

  1. Do your planning bit by bit and it won't seem so daunting. I didn't stress at all until about a week before when everything began to come together.

  2. Try not to get so wrapped up in the chaos of the day. Tell anyone who wants a photo with you to pull you aside because you will be too busy to remember everyone.

  3. A married friend told me that at least once during the day, at some point, sit back with your new husband to just look around, take in the moment and what is happening around you. I'm so glad I followed her advice!
